This Father’s Day, Climate Dads began collecting stories from fathers to their families on how they are taking action on climate change. Each message is being archived with the DearTomorrow project.
Climate Dad Yoni Ashar wrote the following message to his daughter. Share your own story
Dear Zivi and Ayala,
I am writing to you as Father’s Day 2018 approaches. You two, now aged 4 and 2, are asleep upstairs in your room: Zivi, on your mattress on the floor, and Ayala in your crib, surrounded by your posse of stuffies and your two blankies. Your mother and I are downstairs on our laptops, working.
I’ll be honest: I don’t know enough about climate and climate change. I know that climate is a complex system, and that human activity is very likely impacting it. And I am concerned about how this might affect the world you will inhabit.
Many people have strong opinions on a variety of issues, and in some cases the strength of the opinion exceeds the strength of the evidence. I strive for humility in this regard. I hope my humility and caution is not in error.
This Earth is precious. Care for it.
